Item: Clutch job. How many hours do we charge AND what does Lotus Warranty give us in hours? Winner gets an electronic Coooookie!
(update) 40.5 Warranty, 60 hours customer pay

5 Hours. Lotus Warranty gives 4.
![]() 05/20/2015 at 17:19 |

Warranty gives 4 hours - not sure of the rate. Clutch parts cost $2,500, sell them for 4 grand. Total cost of job = $4,500 to $5 grand? Do I win?
![]() 05/20/2015 at 17:19 |
|
12 hours, $16/hour.
![]() 05/20/2015 at 17:20 |
|
12hrs/7.5hrs

I could cheat & look this up, but I won’t. I guess 9 hours, warranty 6.
![]() 05/20/2015 at 17:22 |
|
You charge 6 and Lotus warranty gives 4.
![]() 05/20/2015 at 17:24 |

Hm, 5 hours, $17 an hour.
![]() 05/20/2015 at 17:26 |
|
2.5-3hrs from Lotus but actually takes 5-6 hours
![]() 05/20/2015 at 17:31 |

12/ 7.5

One weekend and two suitcases of (good) beer at the least
Warranty gives nothing because they still don't recognize my driveway as a certified shop
![]() 05/20/2015 at 17:43 |
|
30 hours, warranty gives 20?
![]() 05/20/2015 at 19:08 |
|
Take the cost of replacement of a V6 Camry clutch..
...and multiply by 10, because it’s an “exotic”
![]() 05/20/2015 at 19:50 |
|
8 hours charged, 5 hours paid by warranty.

The Toyota parts are the only good thing about this European disaster of a car that drives very well.

Jesus christ Ford pays less for a complete 6.0 diesel rebuild, let along full on replacement (which is what they usually did). I use a 6.0 because 6.7 are usually less and 6.4 were about the same. Ford only pays ~20ish, depends on a lot of stuff though, can usually claim m-time for spun cab bolts/nuts etc etc.

Bwaha, I was way off. :’)
![]() 05/20/2015 at 21:24 |
|
I bet ya’ll did a lot of the 6.0’s in the early days lol. At Lexus, we got 8 hour to valve springs and i thing 12 for piston rings (recalls). After a while, you could do them in your sleep Lol. The Evora on the other hand is pure hell. It is a complete and total tear down on the rear of the car
![]() 05/20/2015 at 21:25 |
|
Loñ I was hoping someone would guess high and surprise them that they were right lol
![]() 05/20/2015 at 21:29 |
|
Those cookies look good, but what makes it take so long? That’s just insane for what should be a simple job. Or is it just so you can also afford one?
![]() 05/20/2015 at 21:33 |
|
It take 2 guys just to take apart the rear “clam”. By the end, it ends up looking like a pick up truck with the rear truck bed removed only showing the frame. Absolute and complete tear down of the rear half of the vehicle
![]() 05/20/2015 at 21:56 |
|
Jesus, what’s that bill look like?
![]() 05/20/2015 at 22:06 |
|
Holy schniekie!!!!!! My jaw literally dropped!
![]() 05/20/2015 at 22:07 |
|
Snap.
![]() 05/20/2015 at 22:13 |
|
Forget the bill, poor us! lol :] We’ve only done 1 in customer pay I think but I didn’t do that one. Usually a warranty job
![]() 05/20/2015 at 22:13 |
|
Lol crazy huh.
![]() 05/20/2015 at 22:13 |
|
Twice! Lol
![]() 05/20/2015 at 22:18 |
|
Figured it was a almost compete rear end disassembly, hence why I used the cab lifting 6.0. After so many though, like you said its a cake walk. The warranty pay is still a joke though.
![]() 05/20/2015 at 22:22 |
|
Yeah! Bat-shit-crazy-pants!
![]() 05/20/2015 at 22:36 |
|
So what does the job cost, all in?
![]() 05/20/2015 at 23:04 |
|
Holy smokes!!! That’s ludicrous.
![]() 05/20/2015 at 23:06 |
|
I saw, basically have to tear down the rear half of the vehicle and pull the motor.
And the moral of the story is: for $85k buy anything but an Evora.
![]() 05/21/2015 at 06:39 |
|
Wow that’s huge for a clutch job, obviously wasn’t built with service in mind haha.
![]() 05/21/2015 at 06:41 |
|
4.4 hours from Lotus
16 hours to actually do?
![]() 05/21/2015 at 06:41 |
|
WHAT!
you jest surely?
![]() 05/21/2015 at 07:49 |
|
seriously? that’s ridiculous why does it take so long?
![]() 05/21/2015 at 08:24 |
|
the rear section is 100% removed down to the frame unlike a Boxster or 911 that the engine gets dropped but the body is still there.
![]() 05/21/2015 at 08:25 |
|
100% true. The rear section is removed down to the frame unlike a Boxster or 911 that the engine gets dropped but the body is still there.
![]() 05/21/2015 at 08:25 |
|
lol well, the Toyota part of the car is the only good thing about it when it comes to quality, but it is a wear item
![]() 05/21/2015 at 08:27 |
|
lol yeah, It’s not like a Porsche where you can just drop down the entire drivetrain and body stays.
![]() 05/21/2015 at 08:27 |
|
a lot! And dude, it takes 2 people a pair of non stop days to do. Just the rear clam takes you all day lol.
![]() 05/21/2015 at 08:28 |
|
Customer pay is like $8500, warranty varies because so many components get claimed in the process
![]() 05/21/2015 at 08:28 |
|
a lot! lol :]
![]() 05/21/2015 at 08:29 |
|
it always is. Every now and then someone finds a gem that pays good, but then they find out lol :]
![]() 05/21/2015 at 11:19 |
|
I wasn’t even close.
![]() 05/21/2015 at 12:35 |

I’ll say it again because its needed, that’s ridiculous
